18 Days Uganda and Rwanda Safari

Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Airport transfer 

Airport transfer: On the first day of your 18 Days Uganda and Rwanda Safari, a representative from our tour organization will welcome you to Uganda, the pearl of Africa, when you arrive at Entebbe International Airport. He will brief you on your safari and go over the rules and guidelines you must abide by in order to have an amazing time while participating in the various activities in the various nations. You will be taken to your accommodation for refreshments, some downtime, and an overnight stay following the briefing session. The Uganda Wildlife Education Centre or the Botanical Gardens, where you can see a variety of wildlife animals like the lions and elephants among other attractions in the center, will be transferred to you instead, depending on your time of arrival in the country and whether you have time to participate in a number of activities.

Day 2: Ngamba Island

Ngamba Island: On day two of your 18-day safari through Uganda and Rwanda, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel after an early breakfast and drive you to Ngamba Island, the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Uganda, where you can visit the Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Dr. Jane Goodall founded the sanctuary because she was a close friend of Dian Fossey, who was responsible for ensuring the survival of the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. You can learn about how primates coexist, their feeding habits, and other fascinating aspects of them by viewing them at the sanctuary, which also features a number of other sights. You can see a variety of bird species, amphibian species, and reptile species at the sanctuary, among other things, during your journey to the island. Later, you will travel to Kampala, where you will have lunch and then take part in a city tour that includes stops at Idi Amin’s torture chambers, the Kasubi royal tombs, Fort Lugard, and the Nakasero market, where you can learn about how Ugandans go about their daily lives and shop for various fruits and fabrics to make your safari memorable. After your safari is over, you’ll be transferred to your hotel where you can unwind, eat supper, and spend the night.

Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.

After an early breakfast at your hotel on the first day of your 18 Days Uganda and Rwanda Safari, your guide will pick you up and drive you to the biggest national park in Uganda, Murchison Falls. You will stop at Ziwa rhino sanctuary, the only rhino sanctuary in Uganda, en route to the Park. Here, you can see endangered rhino species, various monkey species, including the black and white colobus monkey and the Mona monkey, as well as crocodiles, hippos, antelopes, and many other animals. Following your visit to the refuge, you will eat lunch in Masindi Town before heading to the park. As soon as you enter the park, you’ll take part in the top of the falls hike, which is a pretty experience where you’ll get to see the water thunders and rapids on a high speed falling over a gorge. You’ll also get exceptional aerial views of the park during this hike. Transfer to your accommodation later for some downtime and an overnight stay.

Day4: Morning game drive and Afternoon launch cruise 

After an early breakfast on the fourth day of your 18-day safari through Uganda and Rwanda, your guide will collect you up from your hotel and take you to the northern bank of the Nile, where you will take part in the morning game drive. The park will come to life during the morning game drives as many early risers flood the plains in search of an early morning meal for the day. Among the various animal species that can be seen are elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, Hartebeest, Uganda kobs, Oribi, bush bucks, topis, and waterbucks, among other animal species for memorable safaris. Following the morning game drives, you will return to your hotel for refreshments.

Afternoon launch cruise: Your guide will transport you to the park following lunch so that you can take part in the launch cruise, which will provide amazing experiences throughout your safaris in the park. You will get to see the amazing views of the bottom of the falls where you will see a number of water birds, such as the African kingfisher, the cormorants, spoonbills, and bee-eaters along the river banks, as well as a number of wild animals, such as crocodile After supper, you’ll return to your hotel for the night.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Then, you’ll continue your lengthy but worthwhile journey to Kibale National Park in Fort Portal, where you’ll spend the night. After arriving at the park, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will spend the night and prepare for the day’s activities.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience 

On day 6 of your 18 Days Uganda and Rwanda Safari, after an early breakfast at your hotel and a packed lunch, your safari guide will pick you up and transport you to Kibale National Park, where you will spend the entire day chimpanzee habituating. As you assist in taming and training the chimpanzees to become accustomed to human presence while learning more about the primates for rewarding experiences in the park, such as their feeding habits and how they get along with one another, you will have amazing experiences during chimpanzee habituation. You will see many interesting sights while participating in the activity, including L’hoest’s monkeys, baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabeys, red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and pottos, among other ape species. Following your incredible interactions with the primates, you will return to your hotel for supper, relaxation, and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth: Your guide will collect you up after an early breakfast at your lodging and drive you to the Queen Elizabeth National Park. After arriving at the park, you will proceed to your hotel for check-in, relaxation, entertainment, lunch, and in the evening, you will have the opportunity to take part in an evening game drive, during which you will have the opportunity to see a variety of animals catching their last meals of the day in the plains as they prepare to go to their resting place. Animals like zebras, elephants, elands, antelopes, crocodiles, and leopards, lions You will return to your hotel for supper and the night after the game drive.

Day 8: Game Drive & Evening Boat safari

Game Drive: On day 8 of your 18-day Uganda and Rwanda safari, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in the early morning hours and drive you to the park where you can take part in the morning game drive and see a variety of early risers grazing in the plains, including antelopes, buffaloes, elands, and impalas, among other animal species. After that, you’ll move on to the Ishasha sector for the ultimate lion tracking experience, where you’ll get to see the park’s mesmerizing tree scaling lions, which are quite different from other lions in the world. According to legend, lions use trees to observe prospective prey like kobs.

Evening Boat expedition: Following the thrilling experience, you will return to your hotel for lunch and some downtime as you wait for the evening boat expedition. After lunch, you’ll proceed to the park to take part in a boat tour along the Kazinga channel, which will give you a broad view of the surrounding area and a chance to see many water birds, including the shoe-billed stork, flamingos, king fisher’s great cormorant, little grebe, northern lapwing, red-necked grebe, and wandering albatross pied. Day 9: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla Trekking Bwindi: On day nine of your Uganda and Rwanda safari, your guide will pick you up from your hotel after an early breakfast and transport you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will engage in gorilla trekking in Uganda. When you arrive at the park headquarters, you will take part in a briefing where you will learn about the various guidelines to follow while gorilla trekking in Uganda. You will then take part in gorilla trekking where you will have the opportunity to track one of the various habituated Uganda families. While engaging in this activity, you will also encounter a variety of bird and primate species that will make your safari memorable. When you come into contact with the gorillas, you can watch their behavior in the park and learn about things like their feeding habits, how they get along with one another, and how they groom themselves, among other fascinating aspects of the primates. You can also take pictures for fun memories. You will say goodbye to your safari guide and driver when it is over, and they will take you back to your hotel for supper and an overnight stay.

Day 10: Batwa Trail experience

On day 10 of our 18-day Uganda and Rwanda safari, you will be transferred to the Batwa community and begin the Batwa trail experience. This will give you the chance to learn more about the forest people who relied on the forest products as they coexisted peacefully with the wildlife, particularly the mountain gorillas. You will also visit their communities and see how they go about their daily lives. After the experience, you will travel to the mountains national park and stop for lunch in the Kisoro neighborhood. You will access the volcanoes national park through the cyanika border and then travel to your hotel for supper and the night.

Day 11: Gorilla Trekking – Volcanoes National Park

Gorilla Trekking: On day 11 of your18 Days Uganda and Rwanda Safari, your guide will collect you up after an early breakfast and take you to the volcanoes national park, where you’ll take part in the park’s incredible gorilla trekking activity. When you arrive at Volcanoes National Park, you will proceed to the park’s offices where you will attend a briefing about gorilla trekking in the park where you will learn the rules to abide by while going on a gorilla trek in the park. Day 12: Dian Fossey Trekking 

Following an early breakfast at your hotel on day 12 of your18 Days Uganda and Rwanda Safari, you will travel to the park offices to participate in the activity’s briefing. The hike to Karisoke Gorilla Cemetery, where you can access Dian Fossey’s grave, can take one to three hours. Tourists can see various plant species, bird species, such as the handsome Francolin, Ruwenzori Turaco, Ruwenzori Batis, Shelley’s Crimson, Dwarf Honeyguide, and Dusky Crimson, as well as other primates, including vervet monkeys, golden monkeys, and mountain gorillas.When you arrive at the gorilla cemetery, you can see Dian Fossey’s grave and the grave of her favorite gorilla, Digit, who was killed by poachers. You will go through a training at the park’s administrative center where you will learn the guidelines to follow while golden monkey trekking in Rwanda. You will engage in an activity that includes hiking the park’s various virunga mountains to reach the habituated golden monkey troops after the session. When you reach the primates, you will observe their behavior in the park as you take pictures for rewarding experiences during your Rwanda safari. You will then head back to your hotel for lunch, and in the evening you will take part in community walks to see how the locals live. During the activity, as you hike the mountains, you will see a variety of bird species, as well as different attractions like the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, lake kivu, Dian Fossey’s grave, among other attractions You will return to your hotel for supper and an overnight stay after your rewarding experience with the primates in Volcanoes National Park and your cultural interactions there.

Day 14: Mount Bisoke Hike

You will have the chance to see a variety of sights during your safari, including various primate species and bird species. After the hike, you’ll have lunch and be transferred to your hotel for a relaxing supper and overnight stay. At the summit, you’ll find a stunning crater lake for photography, as well as a number of herbivores like elands, bushbucks, and forest elephants.

Day 15: Transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park

Day 16: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk 

On day two of your 18-day Uganda and Rwanda safari, you will head to the park for chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park. There, you will have the opportunity to track various habituated chimpanzee troops and learn more about them, including their feeding habits, which include watching them consume edible leaves, fruits, small insects like caterpillars and termites, among others. You will have the chance to see a variety of bird species while participating in the activity, including the long-tailed bluebird, paradise flycatcher, Great blue turaco, forest hornbills, orange and white bird, and others. After your exhausting activity in the park, you will return to your hotel for some downtime and lunch before returning to the park in the late afternoon to take part in the canopy walk.

Experience with the Canopy Walk: Following lunch and some downtime, you’ll return to the park and take part in the canopy walk for rewarding views of the park from an aerial perspective. The canopy pathway is only present in Nyungwe National Park, which is the only park in Rwanda and East Africa. You will see a variety of primates swinging from one tree branch to another, as well as a variety of bird and butterfly species, as well as exceptional aerial views for photography, during the activity. Day 17: Transfer to Akagera national park and Ihema Boat Cruise

This will give you the chance to see many early risers in the park, including all of the big five animals, the lion and leopard trying to catch prey in the buffalo along the water sources, and rhinos grazing in the plains. Following the activity, your guide will transport you to Kigali City for lunch and then to a destination of your choosing in Kigali City or the Kigali International Airport.
